Ribh's D'Coopage

@Kris5902 : That is excellent news!:hugs He's only just got home with you too!

These hatches are excruciating! I don't know how you all do it. If it's not one thing, it's another! But that's chickens for you. Wishing you all the best for the last of your hatch.

I've got incubation on the brain. I have to candle tomorrow. I was supposed to do it last Thursday. Last time I candled we think we had 130 or so developing, I should know more tomorrow. But I have one order for 70 chicks and others pestering me for smaller orders and hatching eggs. With my pig problem, I can't brood them in the barn, so 15 or 20 is my max, if I'm going to brood them in the garage. Once we get past these cool evenings (which I don't want to rush) I can put them in a shelter outside and grow them to size. I have an empty shelter in the upper pasture that they can go into. I need to get to the point where I have 50 girls and 5 or 6 cockerels.

So much to do, so little time. :) And space. Space is always my biggest problem when I have these brain waves...:lau

Cold & rather bleak this morning. We have rain coming across in spits & spats. Heard my lads go through this morning about 5am while it was still pitch black & absolutely freezing. It will be bitter out on the water. The one we are keeping will get dropped off here on the peak of the tide.

My girls are hardy & were busy stuffing their faces & admiring the view when I wandered out to say good morning & collect my first egg. Those Campines are excellent layers & lay really early if they are going to @ all. I have more white eggs than brown @ present & seeing I have mostly brown layers they are obviously doing a great job in the egg department.
