Ribh's D'Coopage

Janet is not herself today. I think she's been surpassed by Mary in the pecking order. Mary gets to the number 1 spot on the roost early and won't relinquish it to Janet.
Tsuki is being a big bully and doing her best to drive Edwina and Alice away from the food and water and even the coop when they want to lay!

She gets up on the roost first in the evenings and drives them out of the coop. The poor babies have started to roost on the dead grevillea in the run.

Tonight I got sick of all the fighting and confined Tsuki to the rabbit hutch that I used when she and her sisters were chicks. Now Edwina and Alice can perch peacefully in the spacious new coop with Deana. :plbb

Time out is a great strategy with bullies. It may take several days of this to settle things back though. Be patient.

Something in the air? There was a full on brawl happening here @ roosting last night. Seems no~one was happy. Half the flock was on the 2nd roost & everyone was pecking someone & squawking & flapping & carrying on & Soda was on her own on the bottom rail. She's there quite a lot & I'm not sure why as she's quite high up the pecking order & a big, heavy bird. Everyone got some run time yesterday ~ though Pebbles & Suyin had theirs severely curtailed. Constant breakout landed both in jail. I don't have the energy to be chasing anyone round the yard. Everyone should have been happy & settled & no~one was. Hoping for a better day today. I can't put everyone in isolation. :(

I love freesias, especially the scent
So do we! I have seeded all the garden beds with originals because of the scent & am hoping they will spread & thicken year by year.

Gorgeous view @Ribh

I segregated Janet at bedtime for a few nights and I think it helped. She was hopping mad, but at least it gave Sandy and Mary some peace. After dark, I moved Janet out of isolation and onto the roost. She went right back to sleep and at least they were all snug and woke up together.

How are the birds today? How's Pepper?
