Ribh's D'Coopage

Learn something new everyday.

I said I was going to enjoy making these blankets ~ & I am! As I crochet I think about who I'm making it for, the chooks you keep, what I know of your likes & dislikes, what I've seen of your gardens & that translates into thinking about the sort of blanket I think you might like. So far I've had to learn @ least one new stitch!:lau

And because I want to personalise each blanket I have been choosing different edgings ~ & getting a little braver as I go along...well, I've had to be because each blanket & the person it is intended for dictates the border. Then I got to MJ ~ :gig I knew what I wanted but finding a pattern!!!! Oh. My! I don't know about anybody else but I would have sat on this thing for a year while I looked for the right edging! Then I found something on You Tube...Joyous Gladius! There I sat hook & thread to hand & ready to pause after each new instruction ~ & hey! What? What is wrong with these people?! :lau I've just discovered the Brits call everything by the wrong names!!!! I practically needed a translator.:gig Too funny making.

I am so completely excited for my little blanket! I know my daughter is going to try and steal it, but she's going to have a hard time! lol

It is under way. I have been held up by yet another border!:lau Only this time the video is silent! I did find written instructions but muddling my way through it all has been interesting. And slow. Very slow...:lau:gig

I’m trying to be patient.. when did you say it should come..?
It's roughly 10 days ~ so the end of this week @ the earliest. If it takes more than another week after that something's gone catawumps so let me know. I don't have tracking but it should either be returned to me or get to you. Either way if it doesn't show up I will replace. I figure if it gets nicked someone needs it more than we do. :hugs It will be all good. The Holy Spirit's got this. :D

Well, it's a native orchid so dendrobium something or other. In the bush they grow in bark on trees or on rocks. They like free draining medium. Mine are sitting in tree fern stumps filled with pine bark. I imagine there would be some native to your area too MJ
@Aussie-Chookmum :You are the only other person I know who calls these Dendrobiums! Hubby does ~ but then he's a horticulturalist. :D

Mj: These aren't grown in soil but in a special orchid bark chip ~ Bunnings will have it. We plan on putting all ours in a garden bed but it will be filled with bark chips. A specialist nursery like this one: https://www.australianorchids.com.au/
should be able to advise you on what is best for your area & things like when & how to fertilize. John's the orchid specialist. Me, I just stick them on trees & hope for the best. I make him roll his eyes. :)
