Ribh's D'Coopage

I was actually shocked the first time I gave the girls some tinned fish. I had been conscientiously avoiding all meat & concentrating on greens as treats but all mine go berserk for stinky fish! And watermelon. Watermelon is a big hit . Not so much any of the berries.

I was very naughty this Christmas and fed the the chickens a bit of steak with roast potatoes. I've got some real savages here.:D

Mine were eating Christmas ham scraps today, along with more blueberries. :D

I can't believe the way mine attack a tin of salmon ~ horrible, stinky stuff!

Where do they get the instinct to eat salmon or other fish? There is no way they are catching that in the wild! I've never understood this.

Why, from scavenging what washes up on Hawaiian beaches of course! ;) Actually, it's a very interesting question....any proper theories?

Frankly cats behave the same. Why do they love fish and in general hate water?

I have no answers, only deep questions.

Some cats really like water: tigers, Abyssinians, Bengals ~ but the cat conundrum is easier to answer I think as they were brought aboard ships from the earliest times as mousers & ratters. The Norwegian Forest is known as the Viking's Cat because they had them on the longboats. Not much to eat @ sea except fish... :sick

They certainly are enjoying the holidays. It has been impossibly warm and sunny as well.

Good time to live at Fluffy Butt Acres!
You treat your girls well. If I am ever a chook I want to come live @ Fluffy Butt Acres. :D
