What a brilliant use for an old bedframe, with the tarp to keep it dry. I'll have to rig up something like this if our rain keeps up.

It was built as a hay rack. The chickens kind of adopted it. They spend quite a lot of time under there when it's hot and when it's raining.

I'm flat out painting floats when I hear the girls alarm. Doesn't often happen; never like that. Amongst the shrieking there was a full on stampede into the coop. Some ran, some flew, some did that funny 1/2'n'1/2. I shut the door & scoured the perimeter but whatever set them off I couldn't find it. They are still massively skittish & no~one is begging to get back in the run. Lottie is in the coop proper & Soda has retreated to a nest. There are a few hawks about but they don't generally bother the girls; scavengers rather than hunters & the girls are not only used to them but have a lot of overhead protection. Beats me but now I'm feeling skittish too.

It is hard to relax when they do that. Something definately came after them if they reacted like that. Stay on guard.
