I sometimes think living in reno-chaos is the new normal.

I recently gave up on diy because it's too slow. I like a home, not an ongoing project. So I started paying people to do things for me and jobs were finished like magic!

If I could afford it I would. I can't & so...

She slipped past me when I opened the gate to let the Big Girls back in the pen.
That is Hepzibah & Ha'penny!
They dither. Will they? Won't they? Yes. No. Maybe. I'm still thinking about it.
Well, while they were thinking about it, Medh made her dash for freedom.

What I should do & what I actually did are not quite the same thing.
I wanted her back in the pen so I *herded* her. Naturally she went over a fence, always so much fun. I do know once back in the run most of the girls will head for the gate to get back in the pen & there it is possible to wedge them in such a way they can be picked up without too much trouble.

I didn't immediately put her back in the pen.
I brought her into the house for some *contact time.*
Her heart wasn't racing so I just tucked her into my lap & very gently stroked her.

Now I own cats. What one does with cats when wants to be loved on & do some loving is one chucks them under the chin. Pretty soon you have a rumbling purr up & running. So I sort of absently began running a finger very, very gently down Medh's throat. She tilted her head back & began a soft warbling. I continued stroking & her eyes very gradually lidded, then shut completely! She wasn't relaxed enough to stay like that for long but a wow moment. Who knew chickens liked to be chucked under the chin like a cat?! I don't have a picture because both hands were occupied & no~one else was around but here she is, all snug & cozy in my lap.

And no, I'm not dressed yet. I've been chasing chickens.​

Yes, I remember you posted the cabinet pictures before ~ on @BY Bob's thread I think. They are extraordinary! So very beautiful. You can always come work here. I can't pay you but I promise to feed & water you!

I got so pissed off with it here that one day I just said to myself "that's enough, it's livable in."
I still have missing door and window handles amoungst other things and I've been thinking about doing the tiling behaind the sink. I've got some slate I intend to use. I've left it and left it.

You have to be in the right head-space for it. I started landscaping the back yard (by myself) and only got to a certain point. It's now overgrown and overrun; it's not on my priority list at the moment and just looking at it gives me anxiety. I'm hoping one day I'll be able to tackle it a bit at a time, but I have to be in the right frame of mind for it.

After the Drs yesterday we went & bought our lounge suite. You can really be blessed some days. There was only one lounge in the style I wanted but it was in a colour & fabric I liked. Then even with 2 extra recliners added [there are a lot of us! ] we came in well under budget because it was on special & had $$$$ knocked off the original price. The salesperson was a bit shocked but we have a very large lounge area. Plus one bedroom is now painted thanks to the girl & the rest of downstairs is pretty much ready to go. This might actually happen...

That's great. Look how that worked for you with the lounge. Just another wonderful day. Sometimes things just come to you.
