On a happier note: My regular supplier will notify me when she has some more Campines. It will be close to 12 months before they are ready [obviously] but I've put my hand up for the when.

I also got to spend some time with my girls yesterday ~ finally! The Big Girls were in the run & I managed to smuggle my cup of mealworms into the coop un~noticed so the Littlies could have first dibs. Out of the pairings there always seems to be one a little braver than the other. Of the Wyandottes, Alpia has decided I'm ok. She has figured out if she eats from my hand she has a good chance of getting some food before the Big Girls notice. She was one of the 1st to take mealworms from my hand. Wrold is very timid but she is absolute bottom & still gets a lot of pecking ~ not badly but enough to frighten her off the food. Separating the girls gives her a chance to relax & eat in relative peace. The Araucanas are quite bold & once they realised treats were on offer they had no hesitation! The Campines, naturally, were far more cautious. Morrigu, who I think will always be pretty wild, would dart in, snatch & bolt. Medh & Aoife would not take from my hand ~ but that's ok. They realised good things were on offer & hung round to grab what they could.

My Biggies knew what was up as soon as they saw my Blue & White tea cup!
I was mobbed.

And Lavender roosted properly last night instead of hogging a nesting box so her balance & new feathers must be better.

She is a lovely looking hen ~ but then I think that about all your birds. Whatever's in their genetic mix it has produced some stunning lookers!

Well, yes. And there are council regulations & things. I don't get people. Be sensible yes, but what's with the panic?

Panic is worse than the disease and it spreads faster. Panic also tends to kill more people in stressful situations. I would assume that won't happen now but we havent seen the worst yet. I don't know hours long people will stay confined and calm.

Yesterday I got a called from a friend that her sister had a silkie that she needed a home for. She wanted to know if I wanted her, of course I said yes!!

Her name is Sugar, she's about 4 months old. She appears to be slightly frizzled. I have no idea what color she is. She is a dark gray near her skin and goes almost white at the tips. There appears to be black specks all along the feathers too. Almost like barring, but broken.

Rex has been doing wonderful with his training!! The neighbor girl is holding Sugar, while Anna and Rex watch Scooby just out of frame.

I accidentally got crumbles instead of pellets last week and my big girls don't like them. So I found out if I spread it out like a buffet and then let the hose run a bit and wet it down, they eat it like it's gold!!

I'm thankful that I get to have the extra chicken time, I just wish it want due to a pandemic.

I know what you are saying. I'm getting more chicken time than usual as well. I like that but not the reason why.
