I will never understand this. I would in the winter maybe if it was cold. It just looks uncomfortable

I have a big branch fixed about 3' up in run #2 of the Chicken Palace - they like to have their preening parties up there. A few days ago I saw them all standing on the branch calmly watching a fox walk past and out to the field. No panic at all. I wonder if they know they are safe inside the Palace.

They clearly must. You must trust it as well after what happened previously.

Wouldn't the chickens enjoy some Raccoon meat? Feels like justice to me!

Live will always out do recordings, no matter the genre. But for work, if I hear lyrics, I'm distracted, whereas classical music supports my concentration.

And that is why instrumental jazz for me. Words are distracting but somehow the music helps me to focus better.

I do now.
I have 2’ of hardware cloth and 2’ of cattle panel as a skirt under the dirt and hardware cloth and cattle panel up to 4’ up the walls and hardware cloth up to the roof which is a full-on roof probably better than my house!
I am still wondering about an electric wire but not feeling the urgency.
I have watched on camera. The foxes barely glance at the Chicken Palace as they go by. The raccoons try and find a way in every few days. But I lock them in the coop part of the Palace at night and that is built like Fort Knox!
I hope I am not tempting fate by saying this, but I am feeling way better about security.
They only free range with me in attendance armed with by big stick!

But it is winter, Bob. We are dipping down into single figures.

I like classical for driving. It calms me & helps me focus. The pop my girls listen to makes me tense & irritable.

I know that's nothing for those of you who regularly experience snow & ice but they are novelties in this part of the world & this is just nasty.

It does something to the view though. Dry winter pictures here have a particular quality.
