Ribh's D'Coopage

How's Alpia today @Ribh?

Thanks for asking guys. :) She seems much the same. The bubbles are still there. Perhaps not quite as foamy as they were 1st thing yesterday. I haven't noticed any signs of respiratory distress ~ but then I don't really know what I'm looking for either. All the eyewashes were saline based so I am just using warm water to swab her eye. I gave her some electrolyed water & cracked corn for being a good girl while having things done to her she does not like. She was very vocal about my ministerations. Poor girl. I wouldn't want me for a nurse either. She has an appointment booked for tomorrow. She is back with the flock & roosted on the top bar last night so I take that as a good sign. Really sick chooks can't fight for that top position.

@Ribh I am just catching up now. So, sorry about Alpia but you absolutely shouldn't blame yourself and don't anticipate the worst. I am hoping for a full recovery for her.
I am absolutely not putting myself forward as an expert (listen to @Shadrach 1,000x more than me), but I always learned that you should exclude or treat common things where the treatment is harmless before assuming something more complicated, more rare or more difficult to treat.
And for eyes that means irrigating the eye with something neutral just in case it is as simple as she got something in her eye.
Chickens are very dusty and it amazes me that they don't get stuff in their eyes more often.
Good luck with the vet.
:hugs :hugs
Unfortunately I rarely anticipate the worst & have ended up with very sick chooks because of it. :( This time I thought I'd be a little more proactive. 🙄 I can't seem to call it right. No doubt something that comes with experience ~ & I don't have a lot of that.

I wasn't being critical, just trying to be optimistic. I hope all goes well at her appointment. To me the newest picture looks ever so slightly better. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Stanley LOVES cuddles!! He's a bit upset at the moment, he's molting and lost all of his tail feathers. He's sure the girls are laughing behind his back! :lau
Most of my flock is moulting. Ha'penny looks worst just now with all her wing feathering showing like ribs. :( My beautiful bird is moth eaten & tatty.

Oh, please :hugs ~ I wasn't criticising ~ just trying to explain. I'm not good with sickness & illness & I don't really have any idea what I'm doing ~ which is worrying for both me the chooks!
