Thanks everyone! Super happy to finally have some good news to share on more than just the chicken front! Regarding corn... there’s this one store here that carries this stuff called “flatted corn” it’s like rolled oats but with corn. My friends chickens love it but mine are less enthusiastic about it. It’s kind of crumbly.

I'm so happy for you. All forward progress is good news.

It sounds like the start of WWIII. They arrived in the 1st full on blackout we've had in decades. No lights. No hot food. Pitch black & freezing cold. The kiddies were pretty good considering they'd been travelling all day.

My niece and nephew are here atm with assorted youths. Not quite WW111 but a lot noisier than usual.
Nephew has come from Sweden where he's getting paid, and quite well paid, to do a PHD and my niece has come from Scotland who is also doing a PHD on a grant. The associated youths seem to have come from all over the place.

Well, the nephew likes the donkeys so they'll get some attention while he's here which is great. The niece is an avian biologists and I can talk to her about chickens and stuff so that's good to. The problem is, being young, they all move too quickly for the chickens ducks and sheep. There has been a lot of indignant squawking and disruption of routines. However, I have been able to point the youths at a general area and mention I think there may be a nest in that lot somewhere and would you be awfully nice chaps and go and look for it.

I let the toddler loose in the run but as she is barely walking herself the chickens didn't even break a sweat.

Surely that's not the baby you posted a picture of, as it seems, only last week?
