I've seen mine using two different boxes, but when I collect eggs they are all in one box.

A hen having recently laid an egg in it is one of the reasons certain boxes are more popular than others here.I cannot figure out what makes a particular box more popular.![]()
Fake eggs have never worked here. Each of mine has a ceramic egg in it at all times.

That is interesting. The far left is the Hattie and Aurora box. I have seen them evict other hens. The center box is where Sydney hatched. Those are the two that are generally used. I guess the third box is basically overflow as they will not share with each other. It is rarely used.A hen having recently laid an egg in it is one of the reasons certain boxes are more popular than others here.
Another is a particular box has produced chicks.
The fake eggs did work for me when I built the coop, or at least they seemed to. Until I put them in the nest boxes I was finding eggs all over the place.Fake eggs have never worked here.![]()
Until one of the hens gets suspicious and turfs it out! Each of mine has a ceramic egg in it at all times.
