I wonder if they make louse combs for chickens?Suyin has lice. We've been battling them for a while using the spray.
She's been super good about it, letting me lift her feathers & squirt her in undignified places but a few days ago we ran out of spray so I have been grooming her by hand ~ much to Suyin's delight. She has been enjoying the extra protein! And the attention. The man was astonished to find her lying practically comatose in my lap while I trawled through her feathers after nasties.
Today I resorted to Pestene dust ~ which I've never used before & am not a mad fan of because I don't like anything that is powdery like that. Hopefully it will knock the problem on the head because I think the lice have got used to the other stuff & it's no longer working as it should. Thankfully I only have one hen with a problem though obviously I will have to nab everyone @ some point & give them a good dusting. *sigh*
The next job will be Lavender's butt. She is such a grub & now her poop has set like cement around her butt she will be getting a fluff trim ! That will be a circus. She's not mad keen on being handled.

I swear Suyin got great satisfaction from eating the horrid things!I wonder if they make louse combs for chickens?
I remember when the kids were in primary school and there was a lice outbreak I would use the "Robicomb" tm on them. It used to zap and electrocute each louse that it touched. Very satisfying.![]()
We might get two or three up at a time but nothing like that.Strange cloud formations at sunset. Pretty cool if you can make out the shapes.

The roosters, well a couple of them that I've seen will eat lice. Harold used to do Rosehip's bum when she first arrived. I knew when Rosehip had lice because Harold would be following behind with his head up her bum. Between us we did finally rid her of them but they were harder than mites to deal with.I swear Suyin got great satisfaction from eating the horrid things!
