Ribh's D'Coopage

I've been told I'm odd as far as this goes. I suppose I am. Did you see the modern movie? They did a remake a few years ago. I never saw it.
No. I couldn't imagine how the essay bits would work on screen. It really is two books in one. The novel with the families and treatise on war interspersed throughout. It's quite a literary achievement and it puts the reader through inner wars and inner peaces, inviting transformation through learning and rest, learning and rest. It's a challenging read. No surprise folks can't get to the end. I really should try again, now I'm 20 years older I may have the fortitude to get through that very last section and I'm sure to see more in it.

Have you read Joyce's Ulysses? I find stream of consciousness hard going too, but not as frustrating as war and peace.

@BY Bob is the car enthusiast. I'm sure he will appreciate this. @Shadrach is more a bike man I think. I can't tell one car from another.
I have a small car that serves its purpose. The ac doesn't have to run for long in summer to cool me down because it's so small.

Thank you evey one for the kind words. His mom died at 7:30 this morning. In 5 more days it will be 6 months since his dad died. He's finally sleeping and I'm doing chicken therapy.

Of course Daddy is teaching him well!! I think Stanley might be growing tail feathers!!
I'm sorry for your loss :hugs and wishing you strength for the next few weeks and months of adjusting.

I could not stand that book. So arrogant and disconnected from humanity.
Yep. Didn't even get close to finishing it. Ghastly book. I prefer Dostoevsky to Tolstoy ~ probably because I started with Anna Karenia & she drove me wild. :barnie

AK has a great opening line though! One of my besties prefers Dostoevsky too. Which is your favourite of his?
