Ticks give me the heebeejeebee's...I seriously hate them...I hope it is gone quickly!
I'm good with most wildlife but tick & leeches...🤮

I was going to say that I'm with you both on this. I can cope with spiders and most insects but bloodsucking parasites ... yeeuuuurgh!

But you said it first Ribh!

It's the parasites that totally freak me out. Anything else I can cope with.
Stop reading my brain! 😱

Concern is the right thing. Freaking out never helped anyone.

To quote Frank Herbert :
" I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer"

Good evening folks :frow

Jeanne, love all the pics, great job with the tick.
:frow Thanks, Bob. She's very lucky I even spotted it.
:hugs
They're gross, aren't they? 😬

The only good tick is a dead tick.

It's so creepy when they are still alive and trying to latch onto you *shiver* :sick

Of all the times, this is what I saw on the sink in our bathroom as I woke up this morning!

Plastic spiders for Halloween?

Never even heard of it. Wonder if it's on you tube...?

I'm surprised at you Ribh! I thought you were a bit of an Anglophile.
Maybe your kids are in a different age bracket to mine.

You have heard of Wallace and Grommit haven't you?

I hope you enjoy them!
I just finished re-reading the first 3 books of The Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson...he has a 4th book coming out in October. What are your favorite Fantasy books, writers?
I will have to look him up! I love Tolkien, my brother who is gone now bought me a boxed set of The Hobbit & The Lord of the rings when I was 15 or so! I devoured them so did my oldest son and daughter...they completely wore them out! I haven't read anything from David Eddings in a long time! I will also look up The Two Pearls of Wisdom! If you like dragons...I do...I want one for a pet...:gig...you might like The Dragon Riders of Pern...I think they are a fun read! Thank you for the suggestions! :hugs
Anne McCaffery's world of Pern and her dragons are a very satisfying creation. 🥰 I love Michael Whelan's illustrations of them, they are just perfect.

I'm on a bit of a nostalgia trip at the moment and re-reading some of my favorites.

Patricia McKillip: The Riddle Master Trilogy

Robin Hobb: Fitz and the Fool Trilogy, The Live Ship Traders Trilogy (loved the premise of this one), The Rainwild trilogy. All in the same universe. Very rich story telling.

Dave Duncan: The Seventh Sword series, Magic Casement, Faery Lands Forlorn, Perilous Seas,
Emperor and Clown (Pandemia: A man of his word series)

And if you love children's/ Young adult fiction Patricia Wrightson's Book of Wirrun series is wonderful. The hero is a young Australian Aboriginal man. The first book is "The Ice is Coming".

Uh oh, I think I may have given away that I am quite fond of fantasy too.... 🤓

Do you know Garth Nix @ all? His Sabriel is fantastic! Alan Garner ~ though technically a children's writer ~has done the best retelling of the myth of Bloduewedd ever. He's like Tolkien, not stylistically, but in the depth of his knowledge & understanding of mythos.
That was "The Owl Service" wasn't it? I knew nothing of Celtic mythology when I first read it.

I ordered a book of Celtic stories last week. I'll post a pic when it arrives, then I'll have to read "The Owl Service" again. :D

You've got that right! 😁 I also have a phrase that I tell my husband, that summed up my interest in obtaining a good education..."girls just want to have fun" :gig I went to over 12 different schools, most of them more than once...it was very difficult!
I've come to realize that it's extremely important to know true history as there are factions that want to change it!🙁
History has already been changed. Sadly, the history you learn in school is not nearly as accurate as you would want it to be. Then when you consider what people believe to be true as "common knowledge", well its gets frustrating.

I spent a large amount of effort in correcting my children's education as they went through school. Everything taught is schools is too simplistic and slanted to a single point of view. Right and wrong and such. History is actually rarely so black and white. It requires you to think and understand complex concepts.
What is that saying?

"History is written by the victors"
