Ribh's D'Coopage

Good evening everyone😊

I love when mist starts feathering out of the low places. 🥰

I have started planting in hopes of a summer crop.

The renovating neighbours were using our outside water to wash up last week & the plumber commented on how much cooler & better smelling our yard was.
This is why. We have an upper story to protect what's underneath so even though we have sandstone rather than grass our yard still stays cool in the heat rather than baking.

Yep. We're still renovating...🙄
Not quite done inside or out just yet.
I love when the mist look that way, but for me its very hard to get it on the camera. The other morning we got a fairly good picture, I'm not sure if it's been posted yet.

Renovating can be an on going process that takes years.

Did you make your own SCA garb?
Only the easy stuff like cloaks, tabards and sideless surcoats. Hubby's Mum was a seamstress and she made a few more complicated things for me.

She made me a gown of the same design as the green one above. I loved it!

My last big sewing project was a cover for our golf cart! We've had people ask if we'd be interested in making covers for them, but I don't think we will ever do that! Dale built the frame, I did the sewing...was a big job, but we saved a lot of money doing it ourselves!View attachment 2356149View attachment 2356151
I just never thought.......... you have me speechless. Wow! That is impressive.

Rene, that's a significant project and you guys did a great job.

I need to find my way out to the bees (totally over grown & uneven ground) I had 3 hives, managed to kill off my queens, then a local swarm took up residence in my third hive, so I threw on another super and hoped for the best. I need to get out there and see if they are still residents and if they've made me any honey.
Post some pictures if you do. I'm curious.

Yep. People don't plant trees because the leaves get in the gutters & the pool & it's madness in this climate. They are a super efficient cooling system. We have been inches deep in gum blossom for the last month but it only lasts a few weeks & feeds so many species.
Everything I plant flowers in some way and at different times of the year if I can manage it.

That bush in front of the coop typically swarms with honey bees in September when it is flowering. It gets wonderful light purple blossoms.

You can see it here in the background as Phyllis zips by.

The light golden bee is our honey bee.

As I said above, every year that bush would be swarming with friendly honey bees. I got very concerned this year when I did not see a single honey bee until mid September. By the end of the month they had arrived but I am betting that my typical colony is no more and another finally found the bush later in the month. The bumblebees had free use of the pollen for at least 2 weeks.
