Why 3 weeks early? I remember you saying you were expecting her first week of Sept initially?Three weeks early & so small & delicate! Most babies like falling asleep on me. I must be very dull!![]()

That's impressive MJ. What's even more impressive is that she was a "stranger hen" that understood you. You must be getting fluent in universal chicken language!Last week, I was visiting the neighbours when one of their chickens went "missing" and we all piled out of the house to search for her. After about 20 minutes we were talking hawks and at last it occurred to me that I should ask one of the other hens where she was. So I made a gesture and a facial expression with her and she ran immediately to where the missing hen was hiding to lay her egg.
Might've been coincidence but it felt like communication.

More corn in the short term will help. That is what I would do. Does she like corn. I have it handy though. I definitely would check and see how she is feeding them. That makes sense.Yep. I should ask Michelle what she was feeding her hens. Mine all seem to loose weight rather than gain it & they're on premium feed & it's always available plus they have tones of leaf litter to forage through, scraps & treats.![]()
I would have said "so laid back she needed a TV remote".Chickie was so laid back she needed a sun-roof.![]()
