Ribh's D'Coopage

It’s kind of sad because people in their rush to get chickens likely don’t have a proper set up for them
Probably. A lot of people with no idea all @ the same time. And they've probably bought young hens not realising it will be a while before they lay & they will stop in winter to say nothing of the numbers of hybrids being sold. In 18 months there's going to be a lot of people wondering why their chickens have suddenly carked it.

Yep some people I have spoken to even have a waiting list

:eek:Can you edit this post please. I don't want Mag reading it. He would be most insulted.
Mag is a rooster and very much so. He would be devastated to read he had been mistaken for a hen.
Sorry!!!! Haha! But I don’t see long, pointy hackle or sickle feathers.

She is lovely in lots of ways but she's a chick killer and the others seem to know it, or know she's not the full ticket in some way.
Yikes! Millie might have become a chick killer if I hadn’t taken the babies in. Whose chicks did Myth kill?

That is really interesting. I would have assumed they would have the same characteristics being of the same breed only different colors. So I went and pulled the standards used for judging to see.

Weight for females should be 3.40-4.80kg (7.5-10.5lb). Hatties is on the low side if not too small.

Feathers should be close to the body but not right next to the body. Plumage: Fairly profuse but close, not soft, loose and fluffy as in the Cochin, or close and hard as in the Game Fowl.

I guess our girls will not be winning any contests.
Cashew misses ALL of those standards! 😆
