Ribh's D'Coopage

She sounds a bit like Mel. Mel is the smallest hen apart from Tap here and she's second in command.
She's the 2nd bantam I've had here with aspirations beyond her size. It always amuses & astounds me to watch the smallest birds take on the biggest girls around.

Goodness! Don't put a new one over the top. The poop will act like a friction-less surface and you'll find yourself stepping lightly down from your trailer and skating across the field on the top layer of outdoor carpet!
The image this gave me...!!!!!! 🤣 :lau:gig

Desdemona is the easiest little girl to handle.
She has lost her fear of me.

Beatrice, on the other hand, thinks I'm the devil incorporated.

Here they are with some of them thinking about heading to bed.

Titania thinks nothing of taking on the big girls.

There they are, the little darlings!

Same with Peggy too. She doesn't want to take Janet's role. But she'll push Mary and Ivy around if she wants to.

I had my summer holiday approved yesterday. I ended up taking all of January off. 2020 has about finished me off. I'm hoping to do some diy around the house and will help the tradies with the chickens' new safety zone. I'll try for a few swims at the beach too.

I love baby peeps...:love She's definitely not afraid to take them on...it's not about size...it's about confidence and attitude...that girl seems to have an abundance of both...:love

January is a good month to take off. It's far too hot to work. I know you'll be busy but the end result should be very, very satisfying!

She's a bare handful ~ but all attitude. This looks like being a very interesting bunch as their personalities emerge & mature.

I am very interested in how my Wyandottes develop. My bantams have always been lovely but I know WhoDat & @BY Bob have had attitude issues with their standards. So far they actually seem to be more on the timid side. Titania & Ceres, both splash girls & supposedly gentle breeds, seem to have the attitude. I doubt it's enough to upset the flock balance, especially once we start full integration. Desdemona has me falling in love with the Japanese. Her personality, her shape, her general demeanour in the flock is just lovely all round. It is so interesting as the smaller girls seem to have been bred more for personality & looks rather than eggs & it really shows, even @ such a young age.

I'm so glad that you're enjoying them so much! I had a feeling that you would love the Japanese...the one we had was my favorite! :love

Good call! :D I really didn't know much about them but they were a breed that interested me & their shape is exquisite.

When I got my chickens this go around...I wasn't very excited about it as I felt we were going backwards instead of moving ahead...they were a food source...not for meat(unless the economy tanked) but eggs, I was also looking for friendly & hardy breeds. They have become so much more to me than I had ever imagined! I hope to get a few more hens in the Spring & I already have a name that I hope will fit one of them...she will have to be an elegant hen for it to work! I'm still trying to decide what I will be getting!
