Ribh's D'Coopage

I thought of Shad when I pressed buy. I did not hear from him this week. Maybe this weekend. 🤞
Can you let us know when you hear. There are others concerned as well. We all just want to know he's ok ~ as I'm sure he is so long as there's been no murder in the main house; covid inspired madness; hawk attacks; Chicken disasters etc. :lol: That mug reminds me of his avatar...

I've always thought so. When I had the chicken I never felt I needed the mug. Now it's a nice memory of one of the ditzier birds I've owned. :)
It's good to find a way to remember them, says the man who made a giant photo board of his lost chickens.

I promise to share if I hear.

What were you watching? The ABC was running a mini series which I watched bits of but I always find her rather depressing & a terrible end. :(
A mad genius, wasn't she. Such inspired creativity.

The ABC three-parter got me started. It was mostly about her sister Vanessa Bell, but it piqued my curiosity and I went looking for Virginia videos on YouTube.

There's an outstanding performance by Eileen Atkins who does the entirety of A Room of One's Own as a soliloquy in a long, one shot! Amazing performance

:th :eek::clap:clap:clap

And a bunch of lectures, docos, and book lovers. I've learned there's a strong suspicion her half-brother sexually abused her for years, as they say he had done with his sister and other half-sister (the one born with a disability, the father's first child from his first marriage). If so, it goes a ling way in explaining Virginia's psychological fragility. Vanessa and Virginia spoke of it as factual without Vanessa actually seeing it. Vanessa was also victimised by him, but I believe it didn't go beyond groping and kissing in her case.

If I can remember, perhaps I'll set myself a reminder, next summer I plan to read her novels in the order she wrote them.

I have found her novels difficult. The imagery is often exquisite but they can be hard work. Maybe I should join you & actually finish one...

She always reminds me of Sylvia Plath ~ though that may just be because of the propensity to suicide...🤔
