Ribh's D'Coopage

I like chapter by chapter if that works for you. It keeps everything alive for me & changes my perspective as I go. I will see if my library has a copy so I can start earlier with you & change to my own copy when it arrives. It's also what I'm used to from Uni... :lau
Would you like to join this insanity, @BY Bob? It's probably not your thing but I'd hate to exclude anyone interested & I'm sure MJ wouldn't mind.

Sounds good! I like this approach because we can pay greater respect to her structure (assuming there is one 🤔 ) :lau

Next issue...Both lots of neighbours have been very adamant about roosters ~ as in please don't get one. I'm not allowed by council anyway so it's not really an issue but this morning as I was staring foggily through my living room window trying to decide if any of the girls were up yet I heard the most unearthly scream. When it was repeated I realised I have yet another crowing hen only this one isn't doing the beginning of the crow, like all my other hens have, she's doing the end bit & it's both shrill & piercing! 🙄 Yep, it's a Campine. Aoife to be exact. Thankfully she stopped pretty fast but what an extraordinary noise!!!
Who needs a rooster...lol...as I said your girls are characters! Hopefully the neighbors didn't notice! :)

It's Caturday!!

Here's Blossom's photo

Actually I have a photostory to share and I'm sharing it in reverse.

It's the story of the time I outsmarted a rat that was almost as big as I was (if my size were measured in terms of my bravery in the face of a large mouse/small rat/possibly a marsupial I was unable to recognise in my heightened emotional state).

Subtitle: Thursday Evening.

You've already seen how things ended up, Blossom blissfully napping on the bed and dimly wondering why I was so late turning in.

Ten minutes prior, I had put a chair outside, got myself a long stick, kneeled upon the chair, and used the stick to release John the Slightly Disabled Rat (little rat or big mouse or possibly a marsupial) from under the big sieve. Here is a photo of his dash into the night. Taken while kneeling on the chair.

Prior to this John had spent several long moments contemplating his options and releasing a poop.

"Why is John the Slightly Disabled Rat (Or Mouse or Marsupial) on that delightfully kitsch placemat with giant land chickens on it?", I imagine you pondering.

I had decided to slip the placemat under the sieve to entrap John and safely carry him outside.

Bless him, he really tried to work with me on the whole relocation project! He was a star teammate!

It was good to know I could rely on John because prior to my placemat scheme, I had been inching the sieve along the hall, little by little, come on John, a little further. It was taking a long time, but throughout it all, he did the best he could but eventually he hadn't the geart for movement and that's when I knew I had to find a way carry him to the finish line.

I like that photo because it shows how huuuuuge (tiny) he was.

And all of this happened because I was enjoying a doco on Virginia Woolf and hadn't noticed it was dark oursideand had left the backdoor open.

When I heard it...

Miaoooow

Miaooooooooow

Chomp

Squuuuueeeeeeeaaaaaaaakkkkkkk please don't crunch me up Blossom!!!!!!

I leapt up and freaked out. A heavy mixing bowl was dropped over the injured party. Blossom was banished to the bedroom. Flares were sent up in the form of a flurry of text messages. Plans were made. Bowl was swapped for sieve. John's injuries were assessed. The possibility of adopting a slightly disabled rat/mouse/marsupial gave rise to his name, John, and was dismissed.

The drama unfolded.

John was released and in my imagination I was singing Born free as free as the wind blows...

And the cat slept on.

Unperturbed.

Oh my...what to say to this, but live on John and stay peaceful Blossom! :gig
