Oh poor baby! I hope she gets better soon.Éowyn had a rough day today. She has not been herself and I noticed behavior associated with a UTI over the weekend. So I was able to get her to the vet today. She hates the car carrier.

Well on the way there she had diarrhea in the carrier. Until we got there she was a complete mess. The vet cleaned her up, trimmed the hair around her nether regions (the indignity), gave her a shot of antibiotics, and sent us home with more.
She curled up next me in my office when we got home.

I went to give her the amoxicillin tonight and you will never guess what flavor it is............... bubblegum!
She did not appreciate the bubblegum medicine when I gave her the dose tonight.
Poor baby.

Oh no! Another poor baby. I do hope she pulls through. So hard to see them weak.Gloriana ~ inside again.View attachment 2709004
I brought her in on Friday when I noticed she wasn't keeping up with her tribe. She has the most disgusting diahorrea. I have been feeding her scrambled egg mixed with probiotic yoghurt plus electrolytes. She's been off balance & is really underweight so we rushed our mainland stuff today so I could be home in time to lug her to the vet.
She only weighs 750gs. For an 8 month duel purpose bird that is frightening! So I went over the whole *we had a snake * thing because all my issues with Gloriana have stemmed from that point ~ & low & behold the vet agreed. It could be PTS ~ the best outcome. It could be internal damage cause by the snake constriction. It could be neurological damage caused by being passed out for so long. There's no way of really knowing. The long term prognosis is not good.
In the short term I quoted @Shadrach : if they don't eat or drink for 3 days it's time to cull; we're not @ that point yet. So I have anti~inflamatories for her & an antibiotic & we will see how we go. She is dozing a lot; hardly surprising as she's obviously very weak but she is eating & drinking, better some times than others. I have had to trim her bum feathers & she's still a mess down there plus I am having to change her bedding every single time she poops. I'm hoping she pulls through. To have come so far after an attack like that she really deserves the best life possible.
