I really don't know either but Shad said not to let them [& I figure he would know] but egg breakage seems the mostly likely reason. If you'd seen what I saw this morning...

I've let them do it. Nolia, Hinge and Bracket did a triple sit spread over two nests. Alot depends on who is sitting and how they get on with the ther broodies.
Moon and Tackle for example were smashing eggs from day one. It's not the loss of fertile eggs that's the problem. It's the mess they make of the nest and their undersides when they sit on the sticky remnants of the broken eggs. Whhat tends to happen is the unbroken eggs stick to their undersides and of course, when they leave the nest for food etc they carry off at least one egg stuck underneath. Needless to say that egg doesn't stay in one piece for long..

A bit of both actually. It’s my “bad” knee but it has never swelled up like this without being dislocated first.
I’m waiting on the MRI results but the orthopaedic surgeon thinks I probably won’t be able to walk on it for about a month.

I do hope the orthopaedic surgeon is wrong.

I've done that. At least 2 eggs are missing completely. I don't know where they are. I'll have to get some more.

I've tried both ceramic and wooden fake eggs. The hens throw them out.
