I'm not nearly that clever!!!

Good reason for me to not have them. That and the tiny eggs.
Then you need to choose your bantams. ;) Australorp bantams never went broody on me & lay a good sized medium egg. Definitely not recommending Japs or D'Uccles. Constantly broody & tiny eggs.

There once was a boy from Nantucket*
Who talked quite a lot with his puppet
His friends thought it odd
And called him a sod
But he grew up to give the world Muppets.

:gig

My first one was better although I do feel Kermit would approve of the second.

*Excessive poetic licence :D
I like this one better, MJ. I think it scans better & is funny to boot.

I glad it all worked out fine. I am surprised to find out that your perfect little Wyandotte isn't so perfect.
I've had a lot of Wyandottes ~ & there's 4 out there @ present. Only one has ever shown a mean streak & she's 1/2 frizzle. 🙄 She's having a bad moult so is probably generally feeling bad tempered. She's not a big girl either. She was running beside Aoife this morning & they are about the same size so when you take out the frizzling she's quite a small chicken. I'm expecting she'll settle down again once she's finished moulting.

The Bantams I've known have been great. They don't all lay small eggs.
This is very true. It really depends on your bantam breed. IME true bantams lay the small eggs & are chronically broody ~ which leaves you lots of other bantam breeds to choose from, many of whom lay a really decent sized egg. My Wyandotte bantams lay a pretty decent egg ~ not as large as their standard sisters but not tiny either. Mine will go broody but not as constantly as my Japs. My Australorp laid an egg about the same size as my Campines & Aracaunas. Never went broody ~ ever. But as has been pointed out here before, US Australorps often bear little resemblence to the Australian bird.
