No no.
Bernadette is the one whose leg became paralyzed and who I put into a boot and gave physical therapy and lots of vitamin B2. She is doing great on her long giraffe legs. She seems to take joy that her legs now work to her command and so do I. She is turning into quite a pretty chicken with her gold neck feathers.

Bella is the one I am tube feeding. She got a viral throat infection (confirmed from a swab I sent to a diagnostic lab). It has quite a high fatality rate but if the hen survives the virus goes dormant and only returns under stress. On the basis of that and her continued interest in life (even though she couldn’t breathe or eat or drink), I decided to tube feed.
I am not able to keep up with her needs so she is losing weight but I am hoping she will pull through. She is very weak but has just in the last couple of days shown an interest in eating frozen corn kernels. She is a complete poppet and I am so hoping she will conquer this.
Here she is after I fed her by tube last night.
