Wrold is definitely protective.Just to add - I didn’t know what normal looked like so I just assumed she knew what she was doing. Everyone seemed happy and the chicks grew like weeds.
I think she is just a very protective mother and is defending her ‘nest of babies’ even though her nest is now very mobile and rather large!
I am still treating for stick flea & have to keep mum & bubs together or they both get frantic.
No-one did this the last 2 times so I wasn't sure if this was normal or a strange aberration.
I have a pullet. Mr Google, not the most reliable source, suggest long & short wing feathering & a distinct tail growth in the 1st weeks indicates a pullet. We have that happening but her general bearing suggests pullet rather than cockerel. I don't need a 2nd rooster so am hopeful
