I am very concerned as I know odd eyes are usually a sign of something serious. My black Minorca Elena has these odd black rings around her pupil. She has always been unique around the eyes with her eye color but her left eye has never been this noticeable? It could be a case of simple heterochromia but I would really like some second opinions! She acts normal, healthy, and super active. Here are pics of both eyes.

@Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive @Overo Mare @casportpony @azygous Any ideas? I have no idea what ocular Mareks looks like, but could this be it? Any ideas?
I'm sorry I'm no help, but I hope its nothing serious!
Who long has this been going on? Following
I’m with this particular hen a lot and I’ve only noticed it today! It’s like it popped up overnight! Or maybe it popped up earlier, who knows..We had a string of storms earlier a week ago that prevented me from coming out for a few days so maybeee then?

Okay, so definitely today, but possibly the last few days. Hopefully some experts will chime in soon, i've never seen anything like it!

I should also note that in the first picture my girl was staring into the sun that is why her pupil looked smaller than the other it is actually normal sized. :)

I would go on behavior. Your chicken is otherwise behaving normally and acting healthy. The odd eyes may be merely additional pigmitation. In ocular Marek's it's usually one eye affected, and it's easy to compare to the other normal eye when you see one pupil that has shrunk and become irregular in shape. The color in the iris will appear faded and muddy looking, often greyish.

I wouldn't be concerned. Your chicken's behavior indicates she's healthy and happy. It ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Can you get a better pic of this? I think the images are different. Plus, this came suddenly, it hasn't always been there, making me think its not normal.
It’s only true with one eye,her left eye the second pic is what her eyes normally look like! She has always had a dark ring around her eyes it’s just her right eye that has me baffled because it looks a little lighter and the black ring more fragmented looking? Perhaps it’s simply a genetic oddity?
