We said goodbye to our beautiful, hilarious, curious, bold @$&hole rooster today and I’m really choked up. He was a great flock protector and alarm clock, who used to eat out of our hands. As he got older he started attacking the other chickens and then our kiddo. We tried to rehabilitate his attitude but he was too much roo for his own good. RIP Static. View attachment 2613590

Is this thread making people sad? I'm sorry, I'm just a touchy-feely person and someone who lets emotions out and I know that it can feel good to talk about it.

You are so right. I lost 3 chickens in a surprise dog attack, but only one was very much dear to me. All the chickens were hiding and I was bawling my eyes out while looking around for her. I finally found her under a trailer, bit taken out from her backside and looked as if she hit her head, her comb was blue and she wasn't moving. I gave her a goodbye hug as she died in my arms My sympathy to you all

No it is nice you can speak honestly and not feel judged. Loosing a pet hurts but some people don't understand birds. I only have byc'ers to talk to. That's just fine.
