Her water dish was almost empty. Checked to make sure nothing spilled. She ate her mashy crumbles with the nutri drench. Made her some more and filled the water. Saw a tiny bit of brown poo crusties that had leaked down so must be coming out runny or soft. she seems to be doing well in spirit and everything looks to be healing ok. I wish people healed as quick as chickens do! She still has a while before she can go back out to the chickery. I brought two buddies home today so she wont be lonely when she is ready to be moved. Two splash Ameracaunas. Same age as she is. I want to make sure that when she is all healed up she gets socialized with other chickens. Hoping they bond with her so she will have more confidence for when they are old enough to get integrated into the flock.

My girl had this. Ripped from a fox attack. Do not apply Betadine. What you want is Chlorhexadine. It's what the vets use. It will help the wound heal. You'll probably get a scab and then eventually it'll fall off. I was using betadine but was told emphatically by the vet to not use it. It will cause necrosis of tissue. Seriously, I've had two ripped skin and ripped vent and both healed very well. Just wet the area with solution and pat dry. You can clean the wound with it. Here it is at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Durvet-Chlor...&qid=1526867003&sr=8-4&keywords=chlorhexidine

Hope that helps.

I had to flush again... She had a bit of brown come out. Not as much white. The yellow is staining from the first poo she had when this happened. it does still seem swollen. but the tiny peck hole is closed up.

I copy /pasted this for you.

Saline solution is easy to make at home. You will need:

  • one clean glass bottle or jar with lid
  • table salt
  • pot with lid
  1. Put one cup of water and ½ teaspoon of salt into the pot. Put the lid on.
  2. Boil for 15 minutes with the lid on (set a timer).
  3. Set the pan aside until cooled to a room temperature.
  4. Carefully pour the salt and water (normal saline) from the pan into the jar or bottle and put the lid on

Ok I'm glad to hear you say that! In person it looks so much better. But the pic it kind of looks horrible! I'm glad you see improvement too. Thought my eyes were getting bad!
