My double popper didn't lay today...at least not yet.

OK, well she did it again.....didn't lay yesterday, but left these 2 in the nest this morning..I've been watching pretty closely today sitting in coop and waiting for plumber...so I am almost positive(see that disclaimer there) that they both came from one pullet.......the only other EE I have I do not believe is laying yet.Funny...I think one of my pullets may have laid her first 2 eggs in a row this morning....I found 2 very small eggs in the junior coop this morning, one broken on floor and one pecked on roost board.
Her pelvic pins have been spread for a week, she's been peeking in the nest while the other 2 new layers are in there and yesterday she got into the nest while someone else was laying but they both got out without leaving an egg. I thought the eggs came from the 2 EE's as they were both bluish, but I'll bet she was backed up from yesterday and popped two out this morning. WiIl have to see tomorrow what they leave me.
It's not normal per say for them to push two eggs out on the same day or that close, but first eggs can be very weird but..... I suppose it might be possible, if highly improbable.
They can take up to a month to get the ole egg machine tuned up.I finally cracked open the 2 eggs that was laid the first day by my mama pullet and it was a double yoker! So far she laid an small egg the next day, skipped a day had an egg, skipped a day.....so am I to expect a every other day layer? Maybe I need to change her feed? I am giving them oyster shells, meal worms, as their extras plus I feed them spent barley 2 cups a day (they love it) plus their regular feed. Am I suppose to do more?
I just leave oyster shells, mixed with rinsed, dried, crushed chicken egg shells, out all the time in a separate container......if they have access to varied ground, they should be able to find their own grit, tho I do throw some of the packaged granite stuff out in the run every couple months as mine are confined.Good point, but they still need oyster shells, and they still need grit. How much should I be giving them each day?
Once your girls start laying, yes they do still need grit and oyster shell, but keep it "on the side" .. they will eat it when they need it. I keep mine in a large cleaned tuna can screwed in next to their feeder tubes...works great.Good point, but they still need oyster shells, and they still need grit. How much should I be giving them each day?
