Hi I’ve got two rir that are now nearly 10 weeks old!
At first they both looked like pullets but now one has a bigger comb/red face than the other?
I’ve attached pictures of both to see if a can help? Starting to think 1 is a roo as it seems to attack the others too

Is this your way of saying, “this test stuff goes both ways?”

Both look like cockerels to me. At 10 weeks there’s a lot of comb and wattle development. I have been fooled by some late developing cockerels in my flock but this looks to be right on track.

Agreed, my RIR pullets didn't get red wattles until two weeks ago. They're about six months.
That’s disappointing :( I’m assuming there’s no way of knowing for sure until they start crowing

The good news is, the other two look like pullets. I’m telling you right now, those two RIRs are cockerels.

The first one is definitely a cockerel. You can see the beginnings of male specific feathering near his saddle, so he is an early developer.

The other is probably a cockerel but I wouldn't say it's 100% certain as it is with the other.

Let's see how you do.

The first one is definitely a cockerel. The second could still go either way IMO. Please post updated pics of number 2 in two weeks.
