RIR Roo + BO Hen = ?

:( im sitting here wondering if i really bought BO's then or some hybrid?

They're hatchery quality BOs. The way hatcheries work these days is lazily; mostly they just breed what they have without regard to any feature besides egg production. However, many hatcheries do outcross their stock to other breeds on a regular basis. I've seen some hatcheries selling straight up mutts. No hatchery sells birds which could be considered real examples of the breed any more. Whenever buying from a hatchery, assume they've done outcrossing in AT LEAST the past three generations. If you want the "real deal", go to a breeder who breeds to the standard.

Examples (not my photos):

- Hatchery BO vs. Breeder BO
