RIRs and Australorps...when do they typically start to lay?

Our leghorns started laying for the first time last year about 17-18 weeks. Are RIRs and Australorps about the same when you generalize about the 20 week time frame for starting to lay? Just curious!

my first RIR was at 21 weeks my second was a few months younger and took close to 32 weeks,
the first started in september and the second was just a few weeks ago.. so maybe the wet and cold weather had something to do with it.

My two Australorps started laying around 4 months old.

My guess would be that genetically they are about the same for maturity. But of course, there are other things than genetics that enter the picture.

My most recent Australorps began to lay at 23 & 26 weeks, in November.

Leghorns, as a lighter Mediterranean breed (& probably, coming from a commercial strain), should mature earlier than the dual purpose breeds.

Thanks for the input! Just got my RIRs and Aussie chicks.... so having had experience only with leghorns, it's helpful to know!

mine started layingat close to 6 mos. I have some australorps and light brahmas that took a long time to lay. I think it's something to do with the large size. seems like I read that somewhere. just when I thought they'd never give me eggs, I started finding little brown eggs.
