Rissy’s Habitat

I like using water troughs. I've used totes, dog crates, and guinea pig cages in the past, but the water troughs last the longest, are easiest to clean, and I can easily pop a lid on it made from four boards and a bit of mesh. They're also water proof and it's not hard to find a new use for them once the chicks are grown.

Why am I drawing a blank space on what a water trough is?

I shouldn't have laughed but I did
You laughed because it was funny! We all laughed.

Do you know how many weeks before they get their feathers and go outside?
Normally mostly fully feathered around 4 weeks. Other than my initial 12 all went out to the barn after a day or two. Of course it is warmer in early June than early March. I'm sure that is true in MI as well.

It is a lot easier with a Mama Heating Pad in the brooder (inside or out) than dealing with a heat lamp.
