Rob, is there anyway you can put the name of the person or minor info under/beside the pic of the week so we don't have to search everywhere trying to find out whose pic is up the current week? There has got to be a simpler way or am I making it too hard? I see a great pic as this weeks, and have to go to search and type in pic of the week in hopes of finding out some info on it. Am I going about it the wrong way?? Thanks a bunch.

Unfortunately it isn't that easy since we have multiple people loading up the POW. That said, now that we have some forum sponsors (please visit their sites, buy their stuff, tell them you are glad they are BYC sponsors) we have some funds that will allow us to pay the programmers to do some more projects like this.

Would it not be possible to simply change the section of the script that says "To the left is our pic-of-the-week" to something like "pic of the week from XXXXXX " ...

This is actually a great example of something that on the surface seems easy, but is way more complex than it looks (many aspects of this forum are like that). For example, the current POW involves:

A custom script that I paid a programmer to develop that allow any staff member with the proper login credentials to upload an image to my server which would automatically be turned into the pic of the week. Here is what the program does:

1) Resizes the picture
2) Inserts the picture on the home page of www.Backyardchickes.com
3) Inserts a thumbnail of the picture on the home page of the forum
4) Creates a link to the full size image.
5) Adds the picture to the BYC gallery of past POWs.

In addition to this I had to also create a custom header just for the index page of the forum so the POW would only show on that page and not every page of the forum

In order for the text at the top of the page to be changed, each BYC staff member would need FTP access to download a php header file, edit it (using html writing) and ftp the file back to the server.

So, again, something that seems pretty easy, simple, straightforward like POW has a LOT of moving parts that are all interconnected.

I'm looking into hiring a programmer to do an upgrade to the script above that will allow staff to also add text to the POW. Not making any promises, but this would be a cool addition.

Not stickied and we're trying to keep it updated... but just not easy to do. Heck, just trying to remember to add a pic every week isn't super easy.

Well ...the mods have enough to do and since the text part of that script seems to be too much of a hassle for you to change weekly, then how bout just announcing the contributors name (pic of the week) in the announcement bar (like you did with the new sponsors) that would seem simple enough and not cost anything extra...​
