I have 22 chickens..the roosters are almost equal to the hens and I tried to throw some of the roosters out of the pen to fend for themselves (I have 11 dogs, 8 cats, donkey and shetland pony). The chickens are currently housed in a house with a 12x24 outside pen..they use the doggy door to go in and out. The hens are currently sleeping on the roof since I didnt finish the covering. Anway one rooster kept getting out...and I kept putting him back in so he would be safe. Tony, the rooster is now the new owner of my property. He attacks me constantly so i carry a stick. I tried to hold him and cuddle him and he bit me which shocked me. Honestly, I was laughing so hard because i didnt know chickens bite but it started bleeding badly. My legs look like I was attacked by an ostrich. He chases me from an acre away. He wont attack the pit bulls, horse, or donkey but he wont back down from them either. He sits on the fence when i am in the shower and stairs at me. He is so creepy. He attacks the fence when I am safely able to get inside. I lost one hen a few days ago...she had no energy so i kept her on my bed and then put her in the quiet closet and she passed away. I need to put the other roosters outside the pen to give the hens a chance to rest. No one will take the roosters and not kill them. None of the roosters want to stay out of the pen..they all run back in. Should I shut up the access to the pen? The hens also have sunburn and I am worried that it will only get worse. I am in arizona. I wont give Tony away but I do have a dog pen I can keep him in part time..it is an 8x4. Im not worried about a cat or even a pit bull killing him...no one will go near him.

Some roosters are that way. Put a rubber band around his legs. Not to tight, just tight enough to make him not want to run after you or he will fall. If you don't want the other roosters in the pen, you might have to make it where they can't get in. How many do you have? You could take them to a small animal auction. If someone pays enough for them, they probably are not going to eat/kill them. Sorry to hear about your hen. What happened to her? I would put a tarp on top for the sunburned hens until you can finish it. Hope this helps.

I agree. I wouldn't keep an aggressive rooster ever, at any cost. The most humane thing to do for you, your hens and him is to put him down. Definitely not an easy or light decision to make but so much safer for you and your girls (and although this is what I would do, I've never been in a situation like that). The girls deserve the peace for sure. I don't keep more than two boys in my flock that usually has 30ish girls and I'm in the process of building a second coop so there's only one rooster / flock. When there are so many, they compete and the girls become over humped and totally stressed, injured or even killed.

Ok so to sum it all up u have a rooster who attack only u and is creepy hes doing no favours and is dangerous
So here's what I'd do some u might not like but u might have to consider it
1 slit his neck throw him to the pitbulls or dig a hole for him
2 buy an other hen and make a different run where he cant get out at all but has a friend
3 offer him up for free on some site (not from America so dont know what poultry sites use have)
4 put him in a cage for a few weeks and just be around hin dont pet him to let him out just give him food and water and the essentials
5 when he attacks u try crabbing him and throwing not to hard but just a we bit so he realizes ur not messing
6 throw him a treat or 2 now and again my roosters love maggots and bread
That's all u I can really think might help

Now for ur other rooster u might just simply have to cull them down to ur best few look for the ones with the best laying treats like the width of the skull ect u can get videos in YouTube bout how 2 do it
Or just move them into a total different pen that they cant get out of til u can find a place for them

And I'd advise getting something to put a bit a shade in the hens run If they are getting sun burn as u dont want them to die or start to pull out there feathers

We had one rooster that just for no reason started to be aggressive toward us. He would be nice one minute then attack our hands the next. He was great with the hens. He would court them kind of. One hen we had in the house cause she was a little blind, we brought him in and he laid down like a hen and called her. It looked like he was showing her what to do. He was a very very good rooster for the hens. We finally had to give him away with a few hens we had extra from hatching out. The guy took him knowing he did that. He had 10 acres and said he didn't mind. This is the rooster.

What a train wreck this is gonna be. I better get aboard. Woot woot
Take care of and responsibility for your pets. This isn't a bandaid or rubber band fix and don't feed your birds to your dogs unless you want your dogs to sooner then later tear into their pen and eat them all.
Get on Craigslist asap and put up an ad for free roosters for the eating.
Its not very responsible to turn them loose to fend for themselves and as you see it is just turning into more problems.
If you don't want to kill and or eat them yourself find someone who will and yes it can be done it you try there are hungry people everywhere.
Also secure and or finish the run/coop for your girls before they become predator bait.
Covering the run would be nice but I'm unsure if its really sunburn or from the roosters constantly breeding them and tearing their backs up.
