Last time I weighed him he was 8.2lbs probably less now. The only problem I have is my syringes are to big. Tough to get the right amount.

So that would be 2.88 ml of tylan?
How big are your syringes? You can post a photo of those too:)

For the Max dosage of 40mg/kg - he weighs 8.2lbs that would be 2.98ml per dose, give that 3 times a day for 5 days.

If you go with the dosage of .25ml per pound that @Eggcessive gave you that would be 2.05ml 3 times a day for 5 days.

If your syringes are too big, you may need to drip the medication beside his beak in order to get it into him. It would be better to have some 1cc/ml syringes, I've found those are much easier to give oral medications. You don't mention where you are, but I have asked the pharmacy for a couple of infant syringes and they gave them to me for free. Some states they won't do that.
I normally order mine online and get about 100 at a time. I've found they come in handy for a number of things. Flushing wounds, giving meds to the dog, chickens, etc.

(@Eggcessive @casportpony @Texas Kiki double check my math please:))

Yes, 2.88 ml of Tylan 50 for 8 pounds. Can you get a couple of 3 ml syringes at TSC. They sell Gordons or Martins permethrin 10 concentrate to make a solution to use in a spray bottle 1 1/4 ounce (37 ml) per Gallon or 9 ml per quart. They have permethrin garden dust as well to use in cold weather. It is safe for mites and lice in poultry.

For some reason the TSC by me only have cattle syringes.

I dont understand it , he was just grooming himself. Go figure. Wont eat tho just stands there . He perks up went he heard me pour water and feed. Seems interested but then he dont eat.
I have mess with his eye again, pus is back.
Tom
Are you willing to learn how to tube feed him?
If he doesn't eat and drink he will not get better.

I wonder if he would eat if he was around the hens with a TShirt or cover temporarily on his wound? Also, B complex vitamins can help with appetite sometimes. Ground hamburger (small amount) and egg yolk have thiamine which is good for appetite. Does he seem to be pooping okay? Is his crop full or empty, firm or puffy?

It is normal I think to have to get the pus out a few times. You are doing a good job. There is a lot of work and worry to caring for an injured chicken. Saline or 0.9% salt water is good to use to flush the eye, as well as to blot and clean the wound. Mix 2 tsp of table salt into a quart of water or 1 tsp in 16 ounces. Heat to boil, then on low for 15 minutes and you have saline. Store in a glass jar or clean container.
