It's funny, I have a hen in the cage with him. Everytime I fill the bowl with feed or water he opens his mouth and closes it a couple of times then swallows.

With the aquarium air tubing used as a feeding tube, use about a 12 inch or less length. Take a lighter and slightly melt the end that goes into his throat to soften and round off the sharp edges that can cut or irritate the throat.

To answer another question, the permethrin concentrate is sold at TSC under the Gordons or Martins brand. Get a spray bottle, and mix the permethrin with water 9-10 ml per quart. You can use that on him and on the coop. Treat him at 7 day intervals at least twice, and a third time if he still has mites.

I guess you missed my post. I tubed him already, thank you! You've been great help! Others too! I'm surprised it took me about 45 seconds to do,not including the prep. One thing I forgot to do was mark the tube. So I wouldn't go in to far .Everyone is great,great and great!

I saw it, but didn’t know if you knew to melt the tube or cut it off. Take a piece of tape and mark it with that or with a Sharpie. You can measure from his beak along the side of his head and neck to the crop.

Question: how should I proceed? Give him water first then immediately switch syringes with the food. Or should I wait? Then give him the food later? Let me ask a different way.do I have to tube him 2x or 4x? Another words water, wait 15 mins then food or water food one right after another?

No, I remembered the lighter part. The part I forgot was to mark the tube. When I went in I went slowly. I did feel the bottom of the crop through the tube. Then I backed off maybe 2" then pushed the syringe slowly and looked for any kind of distress. There was none, then I pinched the tube when I was done so that nothing that was left would spill into the air way.

But then won't that be to much at one time? That would be 150ml in one shot food + water. Can his crop handle that?
