Thank you for your help. These are my first chickens and my daughter is the one who has had chickens before so she is teaching me. I fell in love with the one I thought might be a roo. So glad she’s not.Pullets
Thank you! I’m so glad she’s a hen! We love her and she’s a great part of the flock! I am very pleased with Cackle Hatchery! I’m going to post first egg pictures!! We are waiting and checking daily and showing the girls the “dummy eggs”!They are all lovely pullets. I love Cackle Hatchery chickens. You must let us know when you get your first egg.![]()
Here is my Speckled Sussex rooster at 22 weeks for reference - very different looking from your pullet.
Wow! Yes I see there’s a big difference! Thank you for the picture. She is still a pullet. All of the girls are. No eggs yet! We are waiting and they get lots of treats and pellet layer food , oyster shell, mealworms, black oil sunflower seeds, grit, and free range daily.
She looks like mine did a few weeks ago! I love how they grow so fast! We feed lots of mealworms, treats like veggies, black oil sunflower seeds, and pellets (Purina). They also free range every day. I’m sure she’s going to look the same! Good for you for rescuing her!! I asked the same thing when someone mentioned laying seasons because I am also in central FL. Even though we don't have the temperature changes, we still get the shorter days, which is the real reason for the drop in egg production. We live in FL so the weather here is still in the 90s slowly going to 80s and 60s at night. Our winter won’t happen til around February.
