I'm almost done with my coop... Just waiting on my door latches to arrive and where to put the roost or roosts. Looking for suggestions... Should I do one long one down the center, two short ones on either side, or a couple diagonally on either side? I think I'm going to use 2x3s... Any objections to that? Thanks.....

I am assume the large opening for collecting waste. I would put above that so all the waste can easily remove and less mess to other area. Here is a template I made for easy install/remove 2x2", 2x4", 4x2", 4x4".

I would do an L, that makes plenty of roosting space, and is also put poop boards under neath. I used 2x3's for one of my roosts with no issue. Nice coop!
Hi.. it's been quite the project! Thanks! I've done a lot of reading and watching videos about all of this chicken coop stuff.. however, I don't understand the poop board. I plan to do the deep litter method. Why not just let them poop into the litter?

The poop board allow you to remove the board to outside for less mess and quick clean with water hose.

Deep litter is for ground contact. It requires the microbes, worms and bugs to decompose.
In a coop with a floor it's called deep bedding and does little to no decomposing. It accumulates and every time they walk through it more poop particles are airborne.

Poop boards catch the majority of droppings that happen in the coop allowing the keeper to keep things cleaner.
