Roost Training

My 18 weeks old hens prefer to pile in a corner rather than roost so I went in at dark and put them on the ledge to show them where to sleep. Mr. Macroo better get up there too or he'll get pooped on

cute...looks like that is the highest point in your coop....that's where they like it...the higher the better!

Mr. Macroo might need an umbrella.

They'll figure it out. If you put them up there a few nights in a row, they'll likely be hopping up there with no further prompting.

Our girls liked to huddle in a nest box for the first several weeks they were out in the coop. The first night they went in with the nest boxes blocked off, they went for the roost instead and have been using it ever since.
