Rooster attacking my hen

I have 15 hens, and a rooster who started mating a few weeks ago. I noticed that he is stalking one of my hens, and is very aggressive with her. He doesn’t seem to want to mate with her, but attacks her like he would another rooster. It seems like he is trying to kill her. Is this normal? I have had three roosters, and have never seen this before.

I'm assuming your rooster is young? Some aren't always the best, especially when younger. Personally I'd remove him either temporarily for a few months to mature more, or permanently.

That's kinda normal to see poor behaviors out of some as they mature. The hormones are raging and they are just following those hormonal urges. He's probably trying to dominate her, but he could just not like her. I would still remove him. Some do mature out of poor behaviors if you put a stop to them before they become a habit. Generally in a flock an adult rooster would put him in his place.
