I have a Buff Braham rooster that I have raised from a chick, he is 1 year old now. I handled him when he was growing up so that he would stay away from me when I went in the pen and he has done that until about 2 weeks ago when he started to challenge me. My 8 hens have been laying since last June when they started reaching maturity so they aren't a problem and their eggs are wonderful. Through the winter I still got at least one egg a day, now they are up to maybe 7 a day. So i am happy with them. I just don't like Roo challenging me. Any suggestions?

don't back down. You can always give ago at rehabilitating him,or throw em in a pot.Run at him with your hands flying at him, nudge rouhly. Grab him and hold him down.

Walk through him, not around. Carry a squirt bottle and/ or a big stick, and move him out of the way. He will probably escalate his behavior, and need to go to the freezer. Mary

X2. It's spring and the hormones are ranging. If he can settle down, good.....if not there are often good roosters in need of a home.
