Rooster Behavior

Hi I have a 4 month old cochin bantam rooster, the other morning when I let them out., the white female cochin bantam was close to him and he grabbed her by her neck and held her on the ground, she is squawking quite a bit...I broke it up. She wasnt hurt or anything, just curious as to why he would do this....thanks

He is reaching sexual maturity and is not certain about exactly how to do the 'deed'. It's all normal chicken puberty. They will get things figured out.
