This looks like a sunk- in thick bumble foot on the front of his hock. Been there months. Very “stuck”. We soaked several times in Epsomsalt and betadine, neosporin, was finally able to remove most of it, but it came straight back. The skins surrounding it is red and lumpy…have never seen anything like it.
I’m going to post pictures. Has anybody had experience with this maybe some sort effusion or arthritis?

Your post is the second one of this kind in a week. I have a rooster with such a lesion. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...e-not-injury-confirmed-to-be-a-tumor.1543307/ You might find this thread I made useful.

These lesions are squamous skin cancers. They can form anywhere on the chicken, but they seem to appear on the front of the hock in roosters for some reason. Perhaps it's because roosters are heavy birds and sometimes bang their legs against the roosting bar as they try to access it. Repeated tissue injury may provide a vulnerable spot for the cancer to grow. Just a wild guess, not a proven cause.

These lesions are slow growing, but they do cause pain and discomfort. My rooster is leading a normal life with his, but I had to euthanize a hen who had one on her back due to the extreme pain it caused her. During periods of pain, I give my rooster half an ibuprofen twice a day. Currently, he seems to be experiencing no pain, but his tumor is growing.
