Rooster boxes? Or any other way to manage an early crower?

How do you handle ventilation and ammonia issues in a box that's meant to muffle a rooster's crow?

That's what I'm trying to work out. Right now I'm figuring it will vent into the far side of the coop for airflow and I'll scrape out the waste every morning and leave it open to air out.

i have not had a problem with putting my bantam cochin roo into a med/large sized dog crate and placing a fluffy blanket over it at night as added warmth and sound proofing. he is kept in an insulated garage coop with my girls for the winter which also helps to keep his daily crowing to a minimum for the neighbors (who don't seem to notice him while the garage is just feet away from their house). he gets let out at 7am when i go out to feed and check everyone in the morning and gets put up for the night about 8:30pm. he's crate trained for it now!

To Ingrid...I cant remember ever having an ammonia problem in the box for the rooster. The high end of the box was propped open an inch and had plenty of straw in the bottom; even with the rug on top I think he had ventilation and the mess and straw was cleaned out each morning. Like I said , he eventually went in the box on his own so I hope it wasnt that bad.
