Rooster breaking up fight between hens?

Good idea. I will look, however my hopes aren’t high given that the three county area that i live in all restrict roosters for most chicken owners. Wish us luck 🤞🏻
I’m hoping to be able to bribe my neighbors with eggs lol. Once all the ladies are paying egg rent, i should end up with a dozen or so every week if all goes well.
Do you think that your neighbors would let you fly under the radar with your roo?

I am hoping so. We are currently displaced from the house to to a small fire and a lot of smoke damage so i don’t really know how noisy he is but when i’m there i only hear him crow while i am physically within the chicken yard and when i am out of sight, he is pretty silent, or at least seems that way. after a few crows, he quiets down. Pet sitter also says that she doesn’t hear him much at all and she waits until well after sunrise to let them out of their coop since we dont have automatic doors yet. I probably sacrifice a bit on the production side of things, but that’s a sacrifice i am willing to make to be able to keep russel. I think as long as i can confine his “concerts” to normal daylight hours, they may just go along with it.
Here are a couple of pics i took today. Maybe i’m biased but i think hes very handsome. Of course, i suppose every jewish mother thinks their son is the total package! 😂
when i was there today, i gave them fresh peppers from my “garden” and meal worms by the handful and he watched and waited from the periphery until the hens had helped themselves before partaking in the goodies. he didn’t rush in like the hens, he just kind of sauntered up like he owned the damn joint! at least that’s what it looked like to me.

We've got a Cream Legbar rooster too and I have seen him break up a fight between 2 hens, but he is not eager to do this. Sometimes he just stands there wondering what he should do. Maybe ours only breaks up fights when it really gets out of hand. Have you got a picture of him now? Cream Legbars make beautiful roosters.

A rooster will let the hens sort things out for a while, if they don't then he'll get in between.
Good roosters also protect the weaned chicks from the older pullets that tend to bully them.
