Rooster breed

They free range when I'm home 4-5 days a week. Other than that, they're in a large run and a large coop. She's had him for a year and he hasn't shown any nastiness toward them or the hens. he does tie up with their other rooster frequently, but that's to be expected. I'll give it a whirl and hopefully it works out. I carry my roosters around. They hate it, but it keeps me at the top of the pecking order and eventually they get used to it. I've had a few and was able to nip the aggression very quickly with that. I'll just have to "cuddle" him a lot at the beginning. LOL!

I've never owned these Oriental breeds, but have read a lot about them here. I've never seen where they're aggressive to the hens, or usually to humans. Other roosters seem to be fair game, but otherwise they're touted as being pretty tolerant.

I raise a few gamefowl. I wouldn't worry about your hens or have anymore worry than you would with any other rooster about yourself. He doesn't appear to be a full blood, but will probably still be "game". He will most likely be very aggrsive towards other roosters.

Thank you everyone. He is integrating well. The first introduction wasn't that great because my hens think they rule the roost. He bloodied a couple combs very quickly (before I had a chance to break them up). I kept them separated a couple days (but where they could see each other) and then tried again. There were a couple very short scuffles (my hens were instigating), but now they leave him alone. Poor guy isn't getting any because none of the hens will squat for him yet, but no fighting and he seems happy. He's getting used to being held too, which is a plus. He actually comes over to me to see what I'm doing all the time and my aunt said he won't have anything to do with people. He is tolerating me well since I like to hold my roosters and keep them friendly towards people. Or maybe I just like to irritate them a little by holding them lol!
