rooster breeds

This may sound strange, but game fowl roosters are generally the least human aggressive roosters while retaining strong flock protective instincts. For reasons easily understood human aggression was stringently culled in fighting birds. When I was a kid every farm flock had a game cock as the flock master. Needless to say there was only one rooster per flock.

I too have decided to add a rooster to my growing flock. Two of them actually. I have a Welsummer and a SLW on order from Meyer Hatchery along with 20 more pullets (hopefully, fingers crossed).
Some breeds are known for human aggression; however, I think even some docile breeds might turn out a bad roo every once in a while, despite how he was treated as a cockerel. I’ve read where it has taken some keepers several years to find “the one.” I sure am hoping that I find “the one” right off the bat. :idunno I hope you do too!

I agree. As said game roosters are not aggressive and mean as alot of people think. That's misinformation passed on by people that have never had the joy to raise such fine fowl.
