Mine all get layer feed my males are processed every year so kidney problems or whatever issues doesnt effect me. When molting mine get 22% gobblers grub. Scratch is nothing more then corn which mine get in the winter

I know you are supposed to pin them down and then gently put their beaks into the ground to establish dominance. But whenever I try to do that with Pastel, he freaks out when I just try to push him down.
Taming the rooster to submit to you is one thing but trying to make him stop attacking people he sees as a threat is impossible. Your brother kicking the cage is challenging him and (Edit) seen as a threat.

I just want you all to know that if you all have rooster care tips, please share them. Yes I started this thread, but this is for all to chime in. How do I stop my rooster, Pastel, from attacking my brother and mom? I need to catch him every Time my mom comes to get the eggs. My brother is scared to get near the chickens from Paatel attacking him. But, seriously, stop going up to the chicken wire and kicking it. I yell at my brother when he does that, just egging (No Pun Intended) Pastel on to attack him.
I had a leghorn rooster (Hot stuff was his name) about 6 years ago that would attack me and everyone else especially if we messed with the hens.
One day or night I don't know exactly when it happened but Hot stuff and a hen got killed by a skunk about 6 years ago (he lived to be about four maybe I don't exactly know) I was quit sad when he died even though everyone was pretty scared of him.
If Hot stuff got us or before he could, we chased him with a broom, sometimes an sweater or umbrella if we had one with us at the time.

Maybe you could try to have your mom and brother ignore him (don't look at him) when they go to collect eggs and whatever else.
Maybe they should spend some time around him?
You said you have to catch him before they come out there maybe you can hand him to them or they can pick him up? Not sure if that would do anything but I think that could be part of spending time with him.
What does your mom and brother do when he attacks when Pastel attacks?
I am don't really know if any of this would work but If I had a rooster like that again I would try those things.
How many hens and roosters do you have, maybe, the amount of hens is partly the cause of his behavior?

Oh and Hot stuff had some long spurs too like 2-3 inches long I don't really know how long, we never did anything with their spurs, although last year I trimmed my hen Darth vader's spurs and Raptors he was the the oldest rooster I had.
I haven't messed with Topaz's (my current roo he is like two y o now) spurs yet they just don't need anything done to them yet...

I hope you can figure things out with Pastel.

I am no expert and don't have much experience with lots of different roosters.

Exactly! My dad says to kick the rooster if he comes close, not even attacking. I say that's animal abuse and he just says " No, it's just a chicken". Chickens are VERY intelligent for goodness sake!!! While I was at camp, my mom hurt her arm and smashed an egg from Pastel attacking her. It's not cool but it would break me if I ever got rid of him.

My mom just goes in to get the eggs and sometimes feed them. My brother walks in and gets attacked. I have 3 hens and a rooster I am trying to get rid of. I have a home for him but they need to get a new coop because theirs is broken. I'm not allowed to get more hens because we do not have enough space. At least that's what my dad says. I've been trying to find some female Belifelder chicks, but they are at LEAST 29 dollars at Green Fire Farms. He gets along with the other rooster and is very considerate of his hens.

I also have an aggressive rooster I can't trust around anyone else. My advise is separate him from the flock so your family can come and go out of the coop or run without having to deal with him. That'll prevent them kicking him around or him flogging them.
