Rooster Care Tips ( Some that I know)

My mom just goes in to get the eggs and sometimes feed them. My brother walks in and gets attacked. I have 3 hens and a rooster I am trying to get rid of. I have a home for him but they need to get a new coop because theirs is broken. I'm not allowed to get more hens because we do not have enough space. At least that's what my dad says. I've been trying to find some female Belifelder chicks, but they are at LEAST 29 dollars at Green Fire Farms. He gets along with the other rooster and is very considerate of his hens.

I recommend ordering hatching eggs from a breeder, you'll pay a lot less.Just a thought!

Exactly! My dad says to kick the rooster if he comes close, not even attacking. I say that's animal abuse and he just says " No, it's just a chicken". Chickens are VERY intelligent for goodness sake!!! While I was at camp, my mom hurt her arm and smashed an egg from Pastel attacking her. It's not cool but it would break me if I ever got rid of him.

Kicking also makes the behavior worse.

I also have an aggressive rooster I can't trust around anyone else. My advise is separate him from the flock so your family can come and go out of the coop or run without having to deal with him.That'll prevent them kicking him around or him flogging them.

I'm afraid our coop is under construction. But once we finish our large section, perhaps I will put him where they are now. I don't know if I can do that to him though. He cares about his hens alot. It would cause him a lot of unnecessary stress if I do.

Yeah, kicking has the opposite effect with roosters.

I know. I just gave him blueberries and he was making his " Popcorn " sound. I think that means he is calling the hens and is happy.

That sound he was making should be made only for the hens and not their handlers
